From Butterflies to Thunder Dragons

Nature and Culture in Bhutan

The exhibition presents the unique nature and culture of Bhutan, the “hidden kingdom in the Himalayas”. It grants insight into the amazingly diverse species of fauna and flora and their numerous habitats, national parks and natural reserves in a country which is characterised by height differences of between 100 m to 7,500 metres.

Visitors are invited to learn about the country, its inhabitants, the cultural, political and religious life and the influence of Buddhism on the environment: the promotion of a sustainable, socially fair development and the preservation of cultural treasures and protection of the environment are of the utmost importance for the nation.
