Make active choices. Art and Ecology: How?

Freiburg is known throughout the world as a "Green City" with extensive awareness of ecological issues; a city that takes part in current discussions as well as starting up new ones. Artists, in particular, can bring new energy and ideas tot his area: by getting involved, infiltrating, polemicising, reinterpreting and offering alternatives. With the active involvement of the visitors, the interaction between man and the environment becomes a concrete experience. National and international artists will be taking part in this exhibition.

One of our regional partners is the "Echtwald-Initiative" (Authentic Forest Initiative) which re-naturalizes commercial woodland and encourages a more emotional involvement with this ecosystem. Freiburg theatre will be taking part in the project by holding a symposium and an experimental game called “Regiodrom”. Infront of the museum itself, urban gardeners will work together with interested visitors to create green spaces.

In the Schau_Raum, the epic documentary "Earth", directed by Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, will reveal fascinating insights into the natural world – providing a good starting point and great incentive for sustainable activities.
