Augustiner Museum
Late April until late September 2012
In its exhibition "Love thy neighbour", the House of the History of Baden-Württemberg presents a journey through two centuries of neighbourly relations. The large state exhibition will be on show in the Augustiner Museum on the occasion of the southwestern state's 60th anniversary. "Love thy neighbour" - the title of the exhibition - naturally contains the unspoken adjunct "as thyself". This, however, is easier said than done. And so it is that the stories brought together here are ones of painful, profitable, passionate and sometimes even disinterested neighbourly relations that have characterised the association between the Germans, French and Swiss in the border triangle region. The exhibition does not present distinct national histories, but demonstrates that the existence of people on both sides of each border is dependent on that of the others, and that their lives are inextricably interwoven.
